Fan Art – Captain of the lost waves
During 2018 I was given the opportunity to be the official photographer at a Steampunk event.
This was the themed event that I had been to and indeed it would be the first time I have used a portable studio or taken photographers of professional performers on stage.
It was both a harrowing and extremely rewarding experience and I was humbled to be invited back both in 2019 and 2020!
This is part of a series of photographs and photo digital artwork based on the amazing Captain of the Lost Waves.
I’m not a music critic, but like most people I know when I see something or someone special. I didn’t know what to expect when the Captain and Muzwell the mute walked onto the stage, but all I can say is that both myself and my wife were blown away! The vocal energy and magical stories that this talented performer shared with the audience was simply amazing! You can find his work on YouTube and Amazon Music, make sure to check them out.
Anyway, I happily snapped away whilst soaking up the music and attempted to capture the atmosphere and the energy of the performance in my photographs, despite having to work with low lighting, which required very low shutter speeds.
Feel free to share your experiences of watching a live performance of the Captain in the comments, and imagine a copy of this artwork on display in your home as a permanent reminder of the amazing talents of the Captain of the Lost Waves.
